Rua Augusta Gate in the Praca do Comercia adjacent to the Tagus River. Located in the largest Plaza in Europe, the Gate stands 574 feet high and is considered a triumphal arch. It celebrates not a military victory but victory over nature. Following the devastating earthquake of 1755, Lisbon still stands.
