A Beginning

Here in Southern Central Pennsylvania the weather was in the 70s yesterday. Today with the wind chill it is something just below 40. Brrrr-Arrrgh. Thinking of our last glorious trip to the Portugal Azores. The background picture was taken in the World Famous PETER’s EMPORIUM on the island of Faial. (The good looking woman with the raised glass is my wonderful indulgent wife without whom nothing I have done would ever come to fruition. I wish I was there with her now … my own glass in hand. Right now, I am thinking about the massive job this writing project has turned out to be. Besides the writing itself, there is the editing and re-editing and editing the re-editing. There is contract negotiation, review seeking, general promotion and social media site creation (This site for instance). I have book signings to arrange and the weekly skype readings to prepare for. Honestly, I don’t mind the writing - not one bit, and I do look forward to my dramatic weekly readings. But looking at the whole can sometimes become dizzying. I am currently halfway through the eighth book in the series and have a very good handle on where I the next 10 books are headed. By now the characters have become like family and I can hardly wait to see what they are planning to do next. It has taken me a little under three years to get this far and I expect the remaining books can be accomplished by 2026-2027. I was overjoyed to sign with the wonderful people at FIRESHIP Publishing this year, knowing that the succeeding novels now have a home. Where will our vacation be this year? Undoubtedly Spain, with a little luck Portugal and Morroco as well. The world is such big, beautiful, inviting and exciting place. I wish people would travel more and come to appreciate humanity’s differences rather than resent them without ever experiencing them. As always, our hearts go out to the people of Ukraine and to the young Russian soldiers being lied to and sent to their death there.
